IMPORTANT announcement for all SASA families
A serious safety issue for SASA is unsafe and/or illegal parking practices by parents at our SASA game and practice fields. We are all aware of the parking restrictions at our Saline Schools and parents are expected to cooperate as they drive to and from and around the schools and park. There are restrictions for where parents may park at the schools - these restrictions are in place for the safety of the children, for other drivers, and to protect the schools properties. For all SASA games and practices, ALL parents are expected to follow the parking restrictions that have been communicated to SASA families on numerous times throughout the season. Failure to adhere to our parking restrictions jeopardizes our ongoing and cooperative working relationship with the City of Saline and the Saline Community Schools.
At Community Drive, park ONLY in the school parking lots. ABSOLUTELY NO PARKING on the grass by the fields OR along Community Drive. Parking along Community Drive during practices or games creates potentially dangerous safety issues and is an annoyance to the residents of the nearby subdivision.
At Maple Road, do NOT park along the side of the school drive closest to the fields. Do NOT park on the grass. Park only in the school parking lots. If you park on the UAW, park ONLY in the back lot and in consideration of the UAW workers, park ONLY American made cars at the UAW. Do NOT park on the grass along Maple Road or Woodland Drive.
Please use common sense -- if it's NOT a parking lot assume that you may NOT park there!
Thank you!
Pierced Ears and Soccer
Law 4 (The Player's Equipment) of the FIFA Laws of the Game under Safety states that "A player must not use equipment or wear anything which is dangerous to himself or another player (including any kind of jewelry)."
Please note that house and travel referees in Saline will be advised to enforce this rule for all games. All jewelry must be removed - this includes earrings from newly pierced ears. The Board of Directors of the Saline Area Soccer Association holds the position that the taping over earrings in pierced ears is contrary to the laws of the game and will not be allowed. This position is supported by the State Youth Referee Association.
Referees are taught in the entry level course that no jewelry of any kind is allowed and that the taping or bandaiding of earrings in newly pierced ears is not allowed. Please note that while playing in some communities you may be allowed to play after taping newly pierced ears, in Saline referees will be instructed to enforce the law.
We suggest that if you are considering getting your child's ears pierced that you do so at least one month prior to the start of games or wait until after the season ends.
