Where can I get a form for registration?
Now you don't need a form to register as we offer online registration, the preferred and least costly method of registration. Online registration helps our SASA volunteers by significantly reducing their workload. We appreciate our SASA families who assist us by registering online and early. Of course if you prefer to register offline, forms may be accessed by clicking on Registration.
When does the season start and end?
The first game for the Spring 2008 season will start April 12 after the Saline Schools Spring Break, and the last game is June 7 with May 24 off for the Memorial Day holiday weekend.
How often do teams practice?
Recreational teams practice once a week typically for one to one and one-half hours at various practice fields throughout the Saline community dependent upon the volunteer coach's schedule.
When are games played?
Recreational teams play Saturday morning games; the earliest games are scheduled for 9 a.m. and dependent upon the number of players registered and the number of teams formed, the last games scheduled are usually for late morning or early afternoon.
When will I hear from my player's coach?
The recreational coach meeting date for the Spring 2008 season is March 25. Immediately after their meeting, coaches will begin telephoning all of their players with practice and team information. Please give your coach a few days to complete all of his/her calls before you contact SASA for your information. However, if you do not hear from your player's coach by March 29, please call the SASA Registrar at 944-5021.
What do I do if we have a practice night conflict?
Only the division manager can change your child to a different team. We asked that you indicate one night that your child could NOT practice on your registration form. If, once you get your team assignment, you find that you absolutely cannot make the practice night, you should click on the Division Managers link to get the phone number for your child's division manager, and contact him or her directly to discuss a team change. Please note that changing players to different teams causes a domino effect as we need to keep the number of players and team balance as equal as possible for all teams -- your cooperation and understanding is greatly appreciated.
I want to help - what 's entailed in your volunteer postions?
The team parent, working with the coach, will determine what activities you can help with; for example, passing out any information to players and parents that is picked up weekly from the "Coach Box"; preparing the half-time snack and after-game snack schedule; contacting players in case of practice or game cancellations, etc. Whatever you and the coach decide would help to make your team's administration run more efficiently is basically what the team parent does. You will not have direct coaching contact with the players.
Field setup/tear down volunteers come in once a season for either setup or tear down and help the SASA Board of Directors volunteers shift goals into position, hang nets, pads, etc. This volunteer position asks only for a couple of hours of work.
Open-Close volunteers are asked (once per season) to pick up and deliver the "Coach Box" to the playing field by 8:30 a.m. on a game day and set out corner flags, lost and found items, etc. Another volunteer then puts away game day equipment and returns the "Coach Box" back to SASA. This is a VERY simple, but VERY important way in which you can help us--and it only requires your time once per season!
We appreciate all of our volunteers and hope you will consider helping us with these duties!
