TRAVEL
Tryouts for travel teams are held in mid-June for play beginning the following fall. Contact Kelly Tomaszewski, Director of Travel Program, at kmtpt@aol.com for more information.
Travel teams start at the Under-9 age group for both boys and girls and offer competitive play in the MSPSP and WSSL leagues.
**Registration and consent forms are to be completed and brought TO the player's tryout. Do NOT send forms to SASA.**
Spring 2008 Tryout Schedule
2008 Tryout Registration Form
2008 Tryout Consent Form
Each player must complete the Tryout Registration Form and Tryout Consent prior to participating in the 2008 Saline Area Soccer Association Tryout. You are welcome to download these forms and bring them with you to tryouts. Forms will also be available on-site. Any player under the age of 18 must have parental consent to participate in a SASA Tryout.
Players should arrive 30 minutes prior to the scheduled tryout time. Registration will be held at the tryout field locations. Players should be dressed in appropriate soccer practice apparel and bring the signed registration forms, shin guards, soccer cleats, a soccer ball and plenty of water.

SASA Travel Team Guidelines Rev. 1-08
Handout: Travel Program Guidelines
Pierced ears and soccer
Law 4 (The Player's Equipment) of the FIFA Laws of the Game under Safety states that "A player must not use equipment or wear anything which is dangerous to himself or another player (including any kind of jewelry)."
Please note that house and travel referees in Saline will be advised to enforce this rule for all games. All jewelry must be removed - this includes earrings from newly pierced ears. The Board of Directors of the Saline Area Soccer Association holds the position that the taping over earrings in pierced ears is contrary to the laws of the game and will not be allowed. This position is supported by the State Youth Referee Association.
Referees are taught in the entry level course that no jewelry of any kind is allowed and that the taping or bandaiding of earrings in newly pierced ears is not allowed. Please note that while playing in some communities you may be allowed to play after taping newly pierced ears, in Saline referees will be instructed to enforce the law.
We suggest that if you are considering getting your child's ears pierced that you do so at least one month prior to the start of games or wait until after the season ends.
2008 Travel Coach Application
This application is available for downloading in either Word format
or PDF format.
Applications are being accepted to coach boys and girls teams aged U9 to U19 for the Fall 2008 and Spring 2009 seasons. Of particular interest are coaches for new U9 and High School teams (boys and girls). Coaches may possess a USSF "E" or higher coaching license now or be willing to obtain an "E" license during the 2008-2009 season. Fees associated with obtaining a coaching license
may be reimbursed by SASA. Professional SASA club trainers are also used to help instruct the team, and SASA provides age appropriate curriculums for all SASA travel teams under the guidance of the SASA Director of Coaching and Player Development. Additionally, the SASA Travel Committee has completed a handbook to help guide new travel coaches through the first year. However, with no coach, there is no team. Thus, please consider applying to coach a travel (competitive) team. Contact Kelly Tomaszewski, Director of Travel Program, at 944-0453 or kmtpt@aol.com if there are any questions.
